She was the driving force behind this book. she wrote many of the stories and included those of two of her talented friends, Alvida Merriman and Annie Jaeger. They were children of the 1930s in America's Northwest. Times were tough, but the people were tougher and they somehow retained a sense of fun.
Holes in our Shoes is a collection of childhood memories, including “The Great Corset Disaster” and “I Was a Junior G-Man.” The stories are told with zest, humor and fondness.
The stories are wonderfully written and will make you nostalgic for simpler times. Folks who lived through those years might recognize themselves in its pages.
This book makes a memorable gift; folks love it and read it over and over.
Pictured on the cover is Patricia, age 5. She is gone now and is sorely missed. I’m sure she has the angels lined up around a great big woodburning stove and is entertaining them with all these stories and more.
